Quik Quiz. Vol. 34, No. 2. 1.} Name the three drivers with over 100 ARCA sanctioned wins? 2.} Aaron Anthes drove these? 3.} Tri Ami bowl sponsored this driver? 4.} What was Chas Howe’s favorite number?
Answers to Quiz No. 1. Are as follows. 1.} The three “Jeep’s” we were looking for were VanWormer, Iacubbuci, and Plumb. 2.} John Benson Sr. was known as the “White Tornado”. 3.} Kenny Haden flew off the backstretch at Spartan and hit “Poor Paul’s” fireworks vehicle. 4.} Former late model driver Mike Luick is the bartender at the Owosso bowling alley.
Random thoughts from a wondering mind. Can we please catch a break on weather! It seems the latest pattern calls for clouds wind and the threat of rain every Saturday at around 4pm that just ruins any chance to get a crowd. Please Stop!
So Kyle Busch calls out Dale Jr. as a whiner and yet if he doesn’t win he stomps off and refuses to talk to the media, save the bows, and man up!
Flat Rock’s recent 50 lap late model feature was one of the “Old School” races where the drivers rubbed fenders quarter panels, donuts on the doors style racing that was one of the best we’ve seen in years. Nobody wrecked, just hard quarter-mile racing that had the crowd buzzing after it was done. Justin Shroeder won the hard fought race, after a three wide pass for the lead in traffic. His comment after the race, “ I decided , no more mister nice guy.”
Talk about old school racing, we recently got word that Joe Ruttman will return to race at Flat Rock in an outlaw late model for the Stan Yee memorial 150 on June 27th.
Ruttman has had a storied history in late model racing all over the country and had many wins against the likes of Joy Fair, John Anderson, Bob Senneker, Dick Trickle and the list goes on and on. Ruttman drove for the late Stan Yee at one time in his career.
The last time Ruttman raced at Flat Rock, he won the ARCA Re/Max series event.
Yes, ARCA used to race at Flat Rock. Some of the most colorful ads every to appear in the MARC Times came from Ruttman and his “World of Ruttman” business.
Stay off the Wall, See Ya!
