Since then, there has never been a weekend that I was not at a track. Just 14 years since that first race, I have already attended races at at nearly 42 tracks in 11 states. I have seen many major events such as the Hub City 150 and Oktoberfest 350 at Hagerstown, Lernerville’s Silver Cup race, Florida Speed weeks and even Daytona, just to name a few. You could say I've went more then 20 laps more then once.
While living in Ohio my favorite drivers would have to be Ed Lynch Jr. in the sprint cars, Lou Blaney in the DIRT modifieds and Chub Frank in the late models. These are some big house names back where I started at and have kept the area very well represented.
I feel that my greatest accomplishment was at the age of 15 when as crew chief I helped driver Tom Jasen win a track championship!I have had a couple of chances to get behind the wheel. I ran a micro sprint a few times at the old Hickory Speedway in Pennsylvania for Tom Jasen, I also got to take some laps at Kinross in Randy Miller's factory stock. I almost got my first-ever win on asphalt but was short by a half-a-car-length at the line. Not bad for a first time on asphalt or against a few former drivers. I hope to get a chance for a rematch in 2009.
Now and then I like to go and check out different forms of racing, whether it be drag racing or boat racing. If it goes fast, I want to see it.
I have been here in Michigan since 2002 and I am very aware of racing in this area. The 2009 racing season finds me on board with MARC Times Racing News & Michigan Racing Scene. I think that this will be a great year. I am very dedicated to the motorsports world, and I enjoy getting to help the people in the racing community. I hope my writing and reporting will help people get involved with the racing facility that they support.
If last year is any indication, then this season is shaping up to be great. I am sure that my bond with the Kinross and Onaway facilities is going to continue to evolve. With lots of new faces and new ideas, this makes 2009 a perfect base for a new writer like me to grow on. I can’t wait togo 20 laps with you, making many new friends and new memories over the course of the season!
Good luck in 2009. See you all at the track.
