The Board of Directors for the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame, whose objective it is to promote and preserve Michigan’s extensive racing history, are pleased to announce the new 2009 inductees.

The inductees include Bob Benner, from Holly, who is being inducted for his successful snowmobile racing career. Dan Crawford, from Saginaw, is a standout engine builder and crew chief. Frank Lamp from Davison was one of the most successful short track drivers in Michigan history. Bill Owen, from Grand Blanc, is a top drag racer, having won numerous NHRA Stock and Super/Stock titles. Dewey Rethman, now living in Manistique, was one of the state’s top short track stars. Larry Shepard, from Shelby Township, who worked at the Chrysler Corporation for 33 years where he developed many high performance parts, and was highly instrumental in coordinating drag racing programs. Tim Steele, from Coopersville, was a three time ARCA champion. Rick Stout, from Stanton, a top oval track racer and the only Michigan driver to ever win the IMCA Modified National title. Don Voisin, from Cheboygan, was a multiple winner of the prestigious Top-O-Michigan marathon boat race and later became a race official. The late Stan Yee, Sr., from Roseville, was one of the most successful short track car owners in Michigan history.

The induction ceremony will be held at the University Comfort Inn in Mount Pleasant, MI on Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2009. Tickets are available to the general public. Additional details can be found on www.mmshof.org when the information becomes available.
