On Thursday, October 22nd, the Michigan Speedway Promoter's Association held their fall membership meeting and as an associate member of the MSPA we made our twice annual presentation to the MSPA.
The MSPA is a group of Michigan Racing Industry tracks, series and vendors interested in the betterment of racing in Michigan.
Our presentation lasted about 6 minutes and went as such :
I like to start off the top by thanking each and ever member of the MSPA for giving me and my family the opportunity to be a part of your racing industry.
This season was an enlightening experience. The economic environment was dynamic and challenging. It presented various opportunities and obstacles to everyone involved in racing and we were no different. It was truly an eye opening experience to witness the nuts and bolts process tracks and series go through each and every week to put on and host a racing show.
I can tell you that I developed a close and personal relationship with the weather gods, praying more for sun in one year then I think I have in my entire life up till this year. It didn't help much...
For the paper, we saw great acceptance across the board in respect to the tone and tenor of the content and the general direction of the communications and print product. We struggled with production issues, paper delivery and timing of delivery. It is our expectation to continue doing the things we were doing right, while addressing and improving on the things we were doing wrong.
I'd also like to ask for your assistance in collecting on our outstanding invoices and helping us bridge our current cash flow crisis and get back into the good graces of our subscribers and your customers.
I attended races this season at 24 different tracks, I wanted to acknowledge some of the wonderful events I was able to be a part of.. The Who 55, The Dixie Classic, The Fastest Show on Pavement, The Corn Harvest, The Kalamazoo Klash, Spartan's SlugFest, The Extreme 100, The Summer Slinger, The Rowdy 100 and the Owosso Nationals.
I'd also like to nominate for the MSPA Driver's of the Year; Dona Marcoullier, Billy May, Curt Spalding, Terry Senneker, Kyle Hayden and Scott Hantz.
I don't know yet what 2010 holds in store for Michigan Circle Track nor the MARC Times Racing News and Michigan Racing Scene. However, I am very grateful for the opportunities and generosities expressed to us this year.
Thank you.
