Thanksgiving.
To most of us, the word conjures up images of turkey dinner, pumpkin pie and watching football with family and friends. It kicks off the holiday season and is the biggest shopping weekend of the year. We're taught that Thanksgiving came about when pilgrims gave thanks to God for a bountiful harvest. We celebrate the day with your family and friends. Thanksgiving is all about spending time with the people we love. Have a dinner and serve traditional or family favorite foods.
Unfortunately, fate and the conditions of the real world don't celebrate holidays and it is with great sadness that we are reminded how fragile our lives are.
On 10am Thanksgiving Morning, the family of Donnie and Della Marcoullier suffered a horrible loss following a traffic accident in Kalkaska. Their two nieces Kayla and Kendra whom were 11 and 9 years old did not survive the accident while their brother Troy remains in serious condition at at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reported that witnesses saw a vehicle traveling east on Boardman Road when it collided with a vehicle traveling north on M-66. The vehicle on Boardman road contained four Kalkaska County residents, and the vehicle on M-66 was occupied by one Kent County resident, police said.
Della Marcoullier, Aunt of the children, said "On Thanksgiving day, if you watched the news, you would have seen the car accident, that happened near Traverse City. We lost 2 of our nieces, and the nephew is in grave condition down state. They were on their way to our Thanksgiving Dinner....they never made it! The mother survived. The guys are doing as well as that can expected!
The MARC Times Racing News and Michigan Racing Scene family expresses our most heartfelt condolences to the Marcoullier family.
