The 2009 season is almost here for Kinross with 90 percent of the snow gone here in the eastern Upper Peninsula. Drivers and fans are gearing up for the local car shows in May.
Mick Pieri, the 2008 pure stock champion, is ready for 2009 making the jump to the late model division. George Wilson, the 2009 late model champion, will be venturing out this year to Berlin Raceway for the first time and will try to make a handful of starts down at the Grand Rapids-area facility.
There are also a few rumors that former drivers might be coming back to race this year. The recent rules meeting was a success as the new points proposal was voted upon by the S.A.R.A board. The rule change will affect the Aussie races and four-car dash. Neither of the events will be point races, but will be paid positions. Also, if you opt not to start either race, the driver will start at the tail of the feature.
Upcoming events for Kinross will be the Station Mall car show in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario May 12-13, followed by the Sault Ste Marie Chamber of Commerce Show at Lake Superior State University on May 16-17. For more up to date information visit www.kinrossspeedpark.com
