Driver Jay Polumbo of Sault Ste Marie Ontario is definately a force to be reconded with this season. In his first two starts, he managed to pick up 2 wins on opening weekends at Onaway and Kinross. Though the car counts may not have been high, this driver is on top of his game. He is in his second year of stock car racing, with his first year coming to light in the factory stock division at the Laird International Raceway. He was fast out of the box, taking second in the track point standings, and the 2008 rookie of the year.
Jay's carreer started back in 2003 racing motocross in the 250cc division. 2004 He started to gain momentum and picked up 3 class championships from 2004,2006 and 2007. With that under his belt, he opted to move up to the factory stock class, where he would still show he was a force to be reckoned with.
The car is a 2001 Ellis car, with a Cheverolet motor under the hood. His lone sponser on the car is NAPA auto parts of Sault Ste Marie Canada. A lot of this kid's help and insperation comes from Rody Speers, Ed Howe and most of all his father. With out the help of these people we would not be able to compete with these guys week in and week out.
Favorite tracks on his schedule would be the bad fast Kinross Speedpark, where he can be found on every Friday night as the schedule permits. He hopes to hit as many tracks as possible and gain as much experience as he can this year. Durring his off time he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and Seth, his 3 year old son. He is an avid hunter and loves ATV riding also. If you ever make it down to the track, or see him around, definately give him a pat on the back. He is going to be the drive in our next generation of drivers, and will definatly a top runner that you will want to keep your eye on.
