The Bob Ford Memorial and Lock City Home Center Night brought the largest car count and largest crowd to Kinross Speedpark on Friday night.
Fifty-five cars filled the pit area on this special evening.
The Four Car Dash races started the show off under blue skies and sunshine. Jerry Artuso led all four laps in his Late Model to earn the first checkered flag of the night. Dean Eggart won by half a car length in the Factory Stock dash in a very close race. George Wilson pulled away from the field and took a nice win in the Modified dash. John Clawson won by a fender in his Pure Stock, and Ron Etcher won with his 4 Cylinder.
Two Australian Pursuit races were run with Mick Pieri winning in his Pure Stock and Erica Pietrangelo in her 4 Cylinder.
Heat races were exciting with action in most classes. Mike Richer built a big lead in the Late Model heat early but was black flagged for breaking the ¼ second rule. George Wilson took over the lead and raced off with the win. Todd Jackson blew through the field rather quickly in the Factory Stock heat. Once he got the lead he pulled away and took a big victory. George Wilson motored past everyone in the Modified heat earning himself another checkered flag. A multi-car spin in the Pure Stock heat shook things up creating an exciting restart and great racing. Kris Riley quickly moved to the front and took the win. Dan Autore made a beautiful last lap pass to take the lead and the win in the first 4 Cylinder heat. Ron Etcher dominated the second heat race and finished in the first position.
Dennis Aho led for several laps when the green flag dropped in the Late Model Feature event. John Clawson worked on the outside trying to move into the first position. Josh Ware got a tap from Scott Degnan in turn three bringing out the yellow flag and a restart. With Aho and Clawson battling out front, George Wilson made a quick lane change running Josh Ware slightly off the backstretch. With Ware getting his spot back and Wilson at the back, the crowd could anticipate a great finish. Ware moved quickly to the lead with Wilson blowing by almost everyone in front of him. Wilson got up to the second spot and got a chance to challenge for the lead when the Tim Aho car left the track off of turn one. Wilson got alongside Ware on the restart and both cars ran door to door for the final few laps. Wilson edged out the victory with Ware second, and Scott Degnan third.
The Factory Stock Feature had three wide racing throughout the pack. Mike Fox led the first lap with Todd Jackson passing a lot of cars behind him. Jackson went from the back to the front taking the lead on lap three. Cody McLean and Cecil Piche ran strong working their way through the field. Tod Fergeson brought out the only caution with a spin in turn four deep in the pack. Jackson led the restart and raced off to the victory. Cecil Piche finished second and Cody McLean third.
The Modified Feature had a big spin on lap one with most of the field involved. The cars were realigned with some more excitement on the following green flag. Keith King dropped his right side off the front stretch getting loose and making a great save going into turn one. Dennis Uhlman was running out front when George Wilson got into the back of Mav McDonald on the backstretch causing a spin and a yellow. While realigning the field a piece of debris fell off the Wilson car sending him to the pits and unable to continue. Uhlman led the restart and didn't have any serious challenges the rest of the way. He took the win with Mav McDonald second and Jay Palumbo third.
The Pure Stock Feature saw the field go three wide in the first turn. Mick Pieri led the field with the top five cars running very close together. John Clancy got to the second position running real close to Pieri. John Clawson moved past both Clancy and Pieri to take the lead. Kris Riley worked his way to second and caught up to the leader. There were a couple cautions for spins with Clawson leading the restarts. Riley got alongside him with a try for the lead. Clawson was out front when the yellow flag was displayed one last time. The Don Etcher car went up in smoke and made several laps around the track. Three lanes of oil were spread around the speedway with little chance for track crews to clean up the racing surface. With the curfew pending, the race was finished with Clawson in front. Kris Riley was in second, and Ray Golladay Jr. third.
The 4 Cylinder Feature was forced to be rescheduled next week at the start of the show. Racing action resumes next Friday at the Kinross Speedpark. Next week brings the Anne Wilson Memorial modified invitational for the modified class. One driver could walk away with a cool $2,000 pay day in the 53 lap affair. Calls and registrations have come in as far away as Ft. Wayne Indiana and Cincinatti Ohio for this stellar event. This event could boast one of the highest car counts in the tracks history.
