The night at Kinross Speedpark started off pretty gloomy with rain surrounding the speedway and lightly falling durring the nights events, but the stands were packed and the pits were full with a season high car count of 16 modifieds on hand for the $2,000.00 pay day. The rain may have scared off some of the competitors, but the best drivers in the area braved the weather to put on by far the best show of the season. Young hotshoe Travis Eddy would make the long tow from Midland, Michigan to score fast time honors for the evening. Eddy, son of ASA veteran and legend Mike Eddy, was very strong throughout the night. His father was on hand giving the defending race winner all of the knowledge and help he could. The dash would see a wild start, as durring the start of the 10 lap affair, Travis Eddy, Maveric McDonald and George Wilson would get together and spin on the 2nd lap of the race. With a strong last lap pass, George Wilson would claim the lead over Eddy, Uhlman and McDonald.
Heat 1 would see even more action. Local modified rookie James Brown would take a commanding lead over the rest of the field to claim the victory. He would be followed by Tyler Parsons, Kevin Oicle, Rick Ellis, Sabastain Servant and Keith King. The only cautions for the event were for a crash between Ellis and Oicle and then a spin with only a few laps to go by Servant and King.
Heat 2 would see Joe Deisler would make his first start of the 2009 season. Deisler had experienced a small oil leak on his number 25 machine earlier in the night, but would make a strong comeback to win his heat race. Deisler would take victory over Tyler Parsons, John Clawson, Keith McBee, Jay Polumbo, Shawn Ritchie, and Corey St Louis.
John Clawson would take charge in the 53 lap feature, but would come up short as he would pull his mount into the pits with mechanical problems. He would return many laps down. Mike Uhlman then became the leader for a few laps until Travis Eddy and George Wilson would make a 3 wide battle for the lead going in to turn 3 and 4. Eddy would lead until lap 38, but was forced to pull pitside with an expired power plant under the hood. Eddy was dominating the lapped traffic around the tight quarter mile, it was bad deal for the youngster. This would give the lead to George Wilson with Dennis Uhlman on his back bumper. Uhlman and Wilson would make contact a few times in the event with George being spun out twice by Uhlman. Uhlman would be sent to the tail of the event 2 times. With mother nature closing in and the rain picking up, a caution would come out for a spun car on the back straight with 8 laps to go. Track officials made the call to shorten the event and declaired Wilson as the winner of the event, followed by Jay Polumbo and Dennis Ulhman. More results will be avaiable as soon as they are posted. The four cylinder division was up next for their makeup feature the week before, but slick conditions forced the cancelation of the remaining events for the evening.
