The World's Home of the Figure 8® is proud to announce a new venture for all
Speedrome Nation in 2010. Thursday nights during the spring and summer will
become an important day of the week for several reasons. The track will host
the all new Speedrome Live radio show from 6pm to 6:40pm on XL950am
beginning on May 6th. The radio program will reach out to people who have
never witnessed the one-of-a-kind entertainment held each weekend. These
special occasions will also include open practice for all divisions from 5pm
to 7pm with free spectator admission. This has plenty of opportunities for
everyone involved.
On the historic side, this will be the first time a live weekly radio
program will be broadcast from the Indianapolis Speedrome®. Veteran
broadcaster, race caller, and news journalist Kevin O'Neal will be your host
of this audio extravaganza at the 69-year-old facility. He will fill the
airwaves with news of recent events, previews of upcoming activities, and so
much more. Adding flavor to each show will be co-host King Kenny St John.
The Hall-of-Fame driver and top racing personality has a unique insight into
the unique Speedrome short track experience especially the World famous
Figure 8.
Fans this is a great time to come out to the track. The grandstands will be
open to the public to attend. The Speedrome Live radio show will be
broadcast over the public address system for all to hear and possibly
participate. The faithful Speedrome supporters will also be treated to open
practice. All drivers and teams from any division are welcome to join in on
the fun. The Test & Tune session is a nice way to work the kinks out of a
new car or perform fresh setups for the upcoming weekend. Standard pit
admission and procedures do apply on these nights.
The spectacular 2010 schedule kicks-off that first April Saturday evening
with 3 exciting Figure 8's in one program. Those weekends turn to
doubleheaders when Friday racing begins April 30 with the launch of the
World Figure 8® Tour. Traditional crossover events fill the summertime such
as the 10th Annual Jake's 150, Sonny Thompson Memorial, Phyllis Tunny
Memorial, Pepsi 100, and One Hour Endurance race. Our marquee weekend is the
34th Annual World Figure 8® Championship held September 9th - 11th. The best
racers from across the country attend this Hoosier classic.
Our 9 Speedrome divisions will be joined by some great sanctioning bodies in
2010. USAC returns to its roots this year with some exciting Midget action.
The INEX Legends and Bandoleros have a full year ready with a headline
National event set for May 29th. We will see the IKO Mini Cups, American
Super Cups, and the Midwest Drift Union. A most anticipated show will take
place May 30th. Crash-A-Rama will feature School Bus Figure 8, trailer
races, skid car races, and much more. The Speedrome Nation is ready for a
blockbuster season.
We are very proud to have Speedrome Live on Sports Talk XL 950am. They are
the place to go for great sports talk about all the local teams plus plenty
of national coverage. The channel is the home for Indianapolis Indians
Baseball, Cincinnati Red's Baseball, Butler Basketball, University of
Indianapolis Sports, NFL Football, plus many College, and High School
sports. It also boasts many great daily programs featuring the Tim Brando
Show, Mancow in the Morning, and the 2 Live Stews in the afternoon. To see
all they offer, check out their web site at www.xl950.com.
