M40 Speedway was back in action Friday night

After missing a week due to rain, the M40 Speedway was back in action Friday night.  The Late Models, Pro-Stocks, and Pure Stocks, were all on hand to do battle as the end of the season draws near and the points battles are really taking shape.
The Pro-Stocks put on a good feature, with Brandon Zachary pulling out his second feature win of the season in a dominating performance.  Gary Wyrick Jr. had no answer for the No.16 rocket of Zachary, and had to settle for the second place finish.  Gary Chapman held off Fred Reed for the third place finish, while Gabe Hess rounded out the top five.
“We are not quite where we want to be, but the set-up is the same ", said race winner, Brandon Zachary.
“He is a great driver.  The car handled good tonight, the car was real fast ", said Jerry Zachary (Brandon’s father).
Brandon thanked his dad and Burt White, for putting in most of the work on the car.  He also thanked his sponsors; Advanced Property Management, GT Products, Allstar Performance, Mimi Sarducci's, Dowagiac Area Credit Union, Division Tire, Ezkman Chiropractic, and Competition Fuels for their support throughout the season.
The heat one win went to Gary Wyrick, his third heat win of the season, his sixth win overall.  Alex Pratt got his second heat win of the season.
After struggling with the set-up on his Late Model in qualifying, Danny Mac got it right for the feature.  Mac maneuvered his way through the field, to the front and then Mac never looked back, scoring his first Late Model feature win of the '09 season.  It was also Mac's first night out on the season.  Jeff Ganus finished second, getting past Roger Northrup.  Ron Coburn finished ahead of Rick Slusher for the fourth place finish.
“I overdrove the car in qualifying; we had problems with the spring.  It’s my first night out this year, couldn’t have asked for a better night ", said Mac, after the post-race inspection.
Danny went on to thank his wife Mary, Brooks Motorsports Racing, Vinyl Designs, Graphics Signage Imagery, Depue Auto Sales and JBM Leasing, for their support.
Rick Slusher got his second heat win of the season in heat one, while Cory Pressler picked up heat win number four on the season, his fifth win overall.
Tony Stewart came into the night leading the Pure Stocks point race, however his night ended abruptly with a turn two crash, head on into the wall.  Stewart was able to get out and walk away from this horrific crash, which is the good news, the bad news is the points leading No.14 ride is completely demolished.
Todd Taylor would make his way to the front of the pack, and go on to capture his first ever A Feature win.  Scott Elsey held off Josh Highbaugh for the second place finish, while Burney Arnett finished fourth.  Chad Wilkins rounded out the top five.
“Car was awesome tonight, I had a barrel of fun out there.  We were a little loose, there was a lot going on, typical short track racing ", said a very excited Taylor, after the race.
Todd Taylor thanked Corie Eltzroth, Mike Walls, and Less walls for all their help.  Taylor also thanked his sponsors; Wings Etc., Team Spirit Custom Trailers, Russell Automotive, Main Muffler & Brakes, Lux Cafe Pancake House, Purgatory Towing and Salvage, and Callahan's Restaurant; for their support throughout the season.
The B feature had heat one winner, Rick Reed, pulling out his second victory of the night, fifth overall.  Heat two went to visiting Galesburg Speedway driver Kevin England; while Burney Arnett got his fourth heat win of the season in heat three (ninth win overall).
After all that great racing action, M40 Speedway still had time to run mechanic races in each division, with a couple of cars looking like they had been driven by a regular.
Don't miss the upcoming racing action at the M40 Speedway.
August 21st will be a regular racing program of Late Models, Pro-Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
August 28th, The Late Model Challenge Series returns to the M40 Speedway for the final installment of the six race series, with the regular program of Late Models, Pro-Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
August 30th is the Open Whe3el Deal.  Modified, and Wolverine Midgets, plus the Vintage Racecar Show.
September 4th is the last regular racing program before the Season Championships on September 11th.
Don't miss out on any of the racing action as the points race is in full swing every Friday night at the M40 Speedway.
