On a night when most tracks canceled and no one thought there would be any racing action, Galesburg Speedway delivered.  Although Mother Nature stopped any chance of a full program, the Galesburg crew was still able to put on feature racing for all divisions.

The Sportsman division had a first time feature winner in Adam Drobny.  Drobny made his way through the strong pack of cars to take the lead, once in the lead, Drobny never looked back.  Buddy Head, in an unexpected visit to the Burg, finished second, just ahead of points leader Matt Frazier.  Another Kalamazoo regular, Larry Hollenbeck, held onto fourth place, over strong Rookie of the Year candidate, Chris Garrett.

" The car felt good, this was the biggest win Ive had by far.  There is alot of good competition out here, and it was a great finish for our team ", said a very excited Adam Drobny.

Adam Drobny went on to thank his wife ( Theresa ) and kids ( Emily and Mackenzie ), Roger Hensley, Danny Hensley, Dan Switzer, Joe Trowbridge, Hambone, Dave Frazier, and everyone else who has been a part of his success.  He also thanked his sponsors ( Elliots Remodeling, Clover Leaf Lawn Maintenance, Munn's Party Store, B & D Chassis Engine, Drobny Farms, and C & C Auto and Tire Service ) for their support throughout the season.

The Late Model division also seen a first, of a sort.  Jesse VanAvery became the first, two time feature winner of the season.  Jesse ran strong all race long, only having to contend with defending track champion, Scott Rugg knocking at his door.  VanAvery took the win, with Rugg as the runner up.  Ed Santora finished a strong third place.  Marty Crawford made a strong run from the back of the pack to salvage a fourth place finish, while Adam VanAvery was able to lock up a solid top five finish.

" The car came in alot, i lost brakes, it was a lot better than in hot laps and qualifying ", said race winner Jesse VanAvery.  He continued on saying, " Im hoping to stay in the points, we worked a lot harder for this one ".

" He was good, he did a good job.  If he'd given me some of the bottom, I would have taken it.  I was better on top ", said runner-up, Scott Rugg.

Jesse VanAvery wanted to thank his mom ( Peggy ), dad ( "Bad" Brad ), Roy, Kenny, Mike, and all the crazies in the stands.  He also thanked his sponsors ( Greg's Tree Service, Sweet Manufacturing, Ivan's Repair Service, Engine by Glenn, Cyber One, E&H Signs and Designs, and Racing Roy's Fabrications ) for their support.

The Street Stock division had another dominating performance out of points leader John Foote Jr.  The real race was for the second place finish, which eventually went to Stephen Casterline.  Andrew Ritter had his best ever finish, holding off Bryan Noble for third.  Tollie Wichtman finished a strong fifth place, after leading early.

" The car is great, I got to credit all the help I get every week from all that help.  It comes down to the people who help you out on the car, thats the measure of success ", said John Foote Jr., afte the race.

John finished the race just in time, as he had a right front tire going down during his post race picture in the winner circle.

" Its great when your good, its even better when your lucky.  These two things can lead to a championship ", said crew member Rod Russell.

John thanked his crew ( Rod Russell, RJ Russell, Kevin Schaefer, John Foote Sr., and Kelvin Foote ) and his sponsors ( Munn's Party Store, Maple Hill Sprinkling, Bee Clean, Comstock Point, Rob Hostetler Quality Automotive, Cowboy Up, S&T Lawn Service, The Bone Appetit Bakery, and Beyond Second Sight ) for all their help and support throughout the season.

The B feature had a great story in the making, as Earl Lewis got the checker.  Lewis has been trying to bounce back from a bad wreck two years ago, and finally broke through for his first feature win since the crash.  Way to go Earl!

In the Mini-Stock division, the vastly improving points leader, Garry Janow II, pulling off his second feature of the season.  Janow raced his way to the win, followed by a strong finish by Ken Taylor in second.  Third place went to Rick Mann Sr., who held off the ageless Wayne Kline.  Jeff Presock would round out the top five.

" We had the car scaled this week, it was like a different car completely.  Got to thank Dustin and Wayne Kline, without their help, we wouldn't have been so good tonight.  Those guys know what they are doing and want to share with the other drivers ", said a very excited Janow, in the winner circle.

Janow wanted to thank Jim Garrett ( motor work ), wife ( Holly ), kids ( Kacie, Drew, Chance, and Taylor ), mom and dad ( for all their financial support ), and all the loyal family and friends cheering in the stands.  He thanked his sponsors ( Auto Truck and Van Barn, Liberty Party Store, Professional Muffler and Brake, and Garrett Engines ) for their support, and God above for the ability to race and be safe.

The Burg Stock division also had a familiar face in the winner circle.  Johnny Hyder put on a racing clinic against the young bucks in the division.  Hyder went start to finish, leading every lap.  The win was Hyder's third feature of the season.  Robert Taylor had a strong second place finish, while Wally King Jr. drove home third, ahead of Michael Hayton.  Aaron Rheinsburg was docked two positions for jumping a restart, finished fifth.

" The car wa better tonight than it has ever been.  I almost felt bad starting on the outside pole ", said Hyder, in the winner circle.

Although the entire program was unable to run, the racing action turned out to be one of the great nights of racing at the Galesburg Speedway. coming up this week, Autograph Night, a 4-in-1 show, with no Burg Stocks.

August 9th, School Bus Figure Eight, Kids get there early to get your ride in the busses.  the Michigan Legends and the Burg Stocks will also be on hand.

August 15th is the Sportsman Spectacular, it will also be Powerball Night, a full 5-in-1 show.  Make plans to be at the track in August, as the weather heats up, as well as the points battle in all five divisions.

Last, but certainly not least, I want to throw out a shout of congratulations to my buddy Adam VanAvery and his better half ( Whitney ), as they are about to become a family of three!  Best of luck to the two of you.
