Galesburg Speedway was able to get the entire show in this past Saturday night, as Mother Nauutre lurked all night long. With the season winding down, the racing action was really heating up, and all divisions showed it Saturday night.
In the late Model division, Luke Krick started the night holding on tight to a 22 point lead over defending Points Champion, Scott Rugg. Neither Krick or Rugg had an answer for the No.7 of Jeff Bozell. Bozell not only won the heat race, but led the feature twice, on his way to his first feature win of the '09 season ( third win overall ). Rugg would hold off Krick for the second place finish, keeping the points race as tight as possible heading into the Season Championship night. Marc Casey held off Adam VanAvery for the fourth place finish.
" The car was good on the outside, I had to take out two rounds, and the car came to life ", said Bozell, after the race.
Jeff Bozell wanted to thank Jeff and Scott Rugg for all their help with the car. Jeff also thanked his sponsors ( Conklin Racing Oil, Regulator Motor sports, and Motyka Trucking ) for their support.
Donnie Ritter was the Late Model dash winner.
Even withe the Street Stock division championship locked up, John Foote Jr. wasn't about to slip away into the night with his championship. Foote not only set fast time, but also won the dash. Foote wasn't finished there, as he again went out and put on a great feature race. Foote held off Andrew Ritter to get his season high tenth feature win ( 17th win of the season in the Street Stock division ). Stephen Casterline finished third, as Travis Loop held off Mark Langs Jr. for fourth place.
" Didn't know Drew ( Ritter ) was right there, it was an awesome night, and an awesome year ", said John Foote Jr., after the night concluded.
Johnny wanted to thank his crew and everyone ( Rodney, RJ, Kevin, Johnny Sr., and Jim Galloway ) who made his championship possible this season.
Heat wins went to Travis Loop, who got his third heat win of the season. Heat two was won by Ray Dewitt, it was his first ever win at the Galesburg Speedway.
Having so much fun in the Street Stock division, John Foote Jr. decided to run Sportsman as well. The third quick time setter made his way to the front of the Sportsman feature, and again, never looked back. Foote became the first driver of the '09 season to win the feature in two different divisions. Chris Garrett was the runner-up, as points leader, Matt Frazier, finished third. Rick McMullen held off Josh Trammell for the fourth place finish.
" I got to the front fast, I just held my lane. This has been just an awesome night ", said Foote, after the race.
John Foote wanted to thank Ron Vochaska for the chance to drive.
In the dash, Brent Webster got his first ever dash win at the Burg ( second win overall ). Gary Mellinger won the heat race.
In the Mini-Stock division, Garry Janow II tried to hang on to his slim lead in the points race over Mike Govier and Jeremy Collins. Janow was able to distance himself a bit, but Championship nigh will be exciting to watch in this division. Dustin Kline made his way to the front of the pack, and distanced himself from the rest of the pack, on his way to his second feature win of the season. Janow fought hard to take second away from Wayne Kline, while Govier held off Collins for fourth.
" The handling was great at the begining until the toe was knocked out. I just tried to drive away as much as I could ",said Kline, after the race.
Kline went on to thank his grandfather ( Wayne ) and Al's Engines for their help and support.
" I got to fini8sh top three, I am confident about my points lead. I'm really looking forward to the outcome, ready for it to be over. This points race has been real stressful ", said points leader, Garry Janow II.
Jeremy Collins won his fifth dash of the season, while Joe Gonzales got his second heat win in a row, fifth of the season.
The Burg Stock division had a first time feature winner in Wally King Jr. King broke out to an early lead in the feature and never looked back, holding off a hard charging Johnny Hyder for the win. Danny Bunch got past Robert Taylor for the third place finish, with Nick Hills finishing fifth. Aaron Rheinsburg got his second heat win of the season, third win overall.
