In 2007, Maurice Randall leased Springport Motor Speedway and began a rebuilding process with the drivers and fans. Unable to continue into the 2008 season, drivers and fans alike were disappointed, but 2010 looks very bright, as Maurice is back in the driver’s seat, bringing along business partner, Steve Martin, as co-pilot. Together, this team is making the past “ancient history”, seizing the track’s potential and combining forces to make the big 3/8-mile high banked oval a premier track in the surrounding area.
Volunteers have spent weekends cleaning and sprucing up, while Steve and Maurice have worked tirelessly to bring the track up to their expectations. Maurice says the fans and drivers will not be disappointed with the improvements. Fans will love the new menu at the Ideal Café, featuring Dr. Pepper/7UP Bottling Company products as the official soft drinks of the Springport Motor Speedway. New items will be offered on the all new menu with the focus on fresh.
The Dr. Pepper/7UP Bottling Company also stepped up with their energy drink, Venom Energy, to sponsor the stock car series that was recently formed. This division will encompass Sportsmans, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks, all racing against others in their qualifying bracket which should make for very close, door handle-to-door handle racing in an A-, B-, and C-Main. This format, along with minimal rules, makes this a very appealing class. Oliver’s Collision took sole sponsorship of the Pony Stock division and a total of six traveling series will frequent the track to round out the evening’s racing programs. Those series include the MCR Dwarfs, Great Lakes Mini Cups, VROA Modifieds (vintage mods), US Super Truck, Bishop Legends Series and the Super Pro Series (TBA).
