Friday saw the Spartan Speedway enveloped in the best weather of season. The action on the track was intense with the Modifieds, Sportsman, Pure Stocks and the always exciting Pony Stocks on Hand. It was Beacon Sales night as well as Kids night. Many happy youngsters were the winners of one of the many bicycles that were given away.

The Modifieds had 17 screaming cars take the green flag. Chris Ozanich No. 0Z took the lead on lap 1. On lap 2 Dick Maurer No. 911 pulled along side of Ozanich. The two drivers continued to race side by side until Maurer took the lead on lap 9. Maurer had a large lead by lap 14. By lap 20 Leroy Ellis had caught up to the No. 911 to challenge for the lead. Lapped traffic slowed Maurer and Ellis was able to pull along side. Ellis passed Maurer on lap 39 and continued on for the win. Ellis who is the defending Modified champ was awarded a trophy courtesy of Beacon Sales in victory lane.
Heat winners were Earl Miles No. 73 and Chris Ozanich No. 0Z. Miles also won the Pursuit race.

The Performance Automotive Sportsman saw Ron ‘Old School’ Heeney No. 70 take the win over hard charging Dane Long No. 7L and early leader Jimmy Scavarda No. 72.
Heeney accepted his Beacon Sales trophy in victory lane.
Heeney also won the heat.

The Boss Snow Plow Pony Stocks had 16 wild and crazy 4 cylinders take the green flag. After two quick cautions Patrick Denison No. 38 grabbed the lead while the racing behind him was 4 and 5 abreast as drivers fought to gain positions. On Lap 10 Brian Beckner No. 11 assumed the lead. On lap 14 Denison, up on the wheel regained the number one spot. Edson Rowley III No. 55 charged through the field to take the win at the stripe over Denison and B. Beckner.
Denison also won the pursuit race. Rowley and Denison each won heats.

The Pure Stock Race capped of a great night. The race saw Jordan Lechota No. J1 take the lead on lap 4. Nick Lechota No. 7 would follow Jordan the rest of the race as the two brothers put on quite a show. At the end it would be younger brother Jordan with the win and the trophy.
Jordan also won the heat.

Next Friday the action continues.
Then on Father’s Day Sunday June 21st, Spartan Speedway will present the ‘Stan Perry Memorial Late Model Race. The Late Models will go 75 laps in honor of the late Stan Perry. Also on tap will be a slugfest for the Sportsman, Pony Stocks and Pure Stocks in addition to double figure 8 Races. See you there!
