New Paris Heats Up

Tensions ran high this past Saturday at New Paris Speedway as the night was filled with flared tempers and hot racing action!

The Street Stock B feature was the first to see some serious action as the No. 47 of "Bull Dog" Gene Hughes hit the pit exit point hard.  The car sustained some serious damage but thankfully, the Bull Dog walked away under his own power.

The Mini Stock B feature saw the No. 50 of Fred Garrett bringing home the checkered flag with Rick Grubb No. 00 2nd, No. 77 of Caleb Woods 3rd and the No. 29 of Phillip Moore finishing 4th.

The Late Model A feature saw the No. 83 of Rod England take the pole with the No. 7 of Michael Tutino at his right door.  2nd row inside was Jason Shear No. 28 and on the outside the No. 9 of Racing Rex Wert.  Lap 8 saw a 5 car pile up with everyone ok and able to continue the race.  Ty Hayes No. 87 took the lead on lap 20 but then went off the track on lap 33. Bobby Stremme took his No. 35 to the lead and continued on to the checkered flag for his forth consecutive A feature win.  Bringing home 2nd was the No. 101 Ed Paul, Donny Klotz No. 40 finishing 3rd, Brent Jack No. 41 ending up forth and the No. 4 of the "Slasher" Rick Slusser rounding off the top 5.

The Street Stock main event saw Mike Prescott No. 84 starting on the pole, No. 28 of Brandon Maynard on the outside pole.  2nd row inside "Frosty" Scott Frost No. 125, Brian Wilkinson No. 7 started on the outside.  Starting 5th was the No. 1 of Al Mauer.  The No. 84 of Mike Prescott took advantage of his pole position to jump out to an early lead and went on to win the feature.  This feature only saw one feature and that was on lap 29 when the No. 9 of Rodney Spencer and the No. 17 of Bobby Schisler tangled together. No. 28 of Brandon Maynard finished 2nd, No. 125 of Scott Frost ended up 3rd, No. 42 Keith Powell brought home 4th and 5th was the No. 61 of Travis Schlabach.

The last feature of the night was the Mini Stock A feature and starting on the pole was the No. 10 of Howard Randolph, on the outside was the No. 13 of David Reinberger.  2nd row inside the No. 7 of Merle Neff and on the outside was No. 33 of Dennis Zimmerman.  3rd row inside No. 69 Eric Fraizer and to his right was John Ong in his No. 82.  After a 7 car pile up on the first lap, Dennis Zimmerman drove his No. 33 to an early lead and led the first 15 laps until being overtaken by the Monteith Tire No. 6 of Jim Anglemyer who led the last 5 laps and took home the checkered flag.  Dennis Zimmerman and his No. 33 took home 2nd, points leader JR Ryman finished 3rd even after being caught up in the only caution of the race, 4th was the Kermit car of Mark Hughes No. 34 and rounding off the top 5 was the No. G3 of "Flyin" George Flowers.    One Mini Stock Driver that I would like to give props to is my friend and New Paris' only female driver, Beth Miller in her dark green and pink No. 33 mini stock. Until this season, Beth was her Street Stock driver husbands crew chief and biggest fan.  When Beth wasn't checking tire pressures, she was by her husband's side.  This year finds Beth as the driver while her husband is her helping her out.  Beth would like to take the time to thank her husband for all he has done to help her with her rookie season.  She would also like to thank 3 wide racing.  With the overwhelming response of the $20 per carload this week, our track Promoter has decided to do it again next week so pack a cooler (no glass please) and the kids and come on out to New Paris Speedway where the racing is always hot and the fansare the best in Indiana!  Happy and Safe Racing!
