“Rain, Rain, Go Away, Come Again, Not On A Saturday” This was our motto this past Saturday night at New Paris Speedway. The rain started early and continued until just before dark, but finally the rain stopped, the track was dried and we were racing!
The Late Model A Feature saw Travis Schlabach No. 11 on the pole with Cory Pressler No. 6X on the outside pole. Travis Schlabach jumped out front early and led the first 18 laps. Ty Hayes No. 87 started in the last row and worked his way up to take the lead on lap 19 and held on to the lead to win the race. Points leader Bobby Stremme No. 35 finished 2nd, pole sitter Travis Schlabach No. 11 brought home 3rd while Brandon Maynard No. 14 crossed the start/finish line 4th. The Late Model guys get next week off but they will be ready to rumble again on Saturday July 18th.
The Street Stock A feature began with Scott Elsey No. 36 on the inside pole with Rick Richardson No. 20 to his right door. Several different drivers took turns in the lead until lap 12 when Scott Frost No. 125 took the led and kept it until lap 20 when points leader Bobby Schisler No. 17 over took “Frosty” Scott Frost for the lead and continued on for the win. Scott Frost No. 125 finished 2nd, “Sparky” Mark Miller brought home 3rd and No. 42 Keith Powell ended up 4th.
The Mini Stock A Feature surprised everyone with a caution free race. Merle Neff No. 7 started on the pole with No. 33W Steve Webb started on the outside pole. Dennis Zimmerman No. 33Z took the lead on lap 5 and held on until the 2008 Mini Stock Champion Jim Anglemyer No. 6 took the lead on lap 15 and continued on to win his 4th A Feature win of this 2009 season. Dennis Zimmerman held on for 2nd while Shane Eldridge No. 43 worked his way up to 3rd.
Next Saturday, July 11th, the HOSS Outlaw Sprints will be at New Paris Speedway and July 18th is our annual Autograph Night/Old Timers Night. Also, don’t forget the upcoming Summer Sizzler/Mini Stock Shoot-Out on Thursday, August 6th. Join us at New Paris Speedway where the racing is always hotter than the temperature! Happy and Safe Racing!
