The temperatures soared up toward 90 last Saturday at New Paris Speedway. The track celebrated the memory of Danny Galloway with the Flagger Boy 50 lap Street Stock A Feature and the 75 lap Late Model 5th Challenge Series Race.

Between the temperatures and the tensions of an important race, the Late Model Feature was full of cautions and hot tempers.  The first row consisted of Cory Pressler No. 32 on the pole and Harvey Taylor No. 21 sitting on the outside pole.  “Honkin” Harvey Taylor took to the front first to lead the until lap 9 until the first caution came out which ended the pole sitter of Cory Pressler’s night and put the No. 21 of Taylor to the tail.  The restart saw Craig Cassel No. 1 out front with the No. 40 of little Donnie Klotz beside him due to the Double File Restarts.  Cassel led until the No. 28 of Shawn Amore took the lead and stayed up front until lap 62 when the No. 25 of JR Roahrig took the lead and continued on to win the race.  Finishing 2nd was the No. 24 of Tyler Roahrig and bringing home 3rd is one of New Paris’s favorites, the No. 87 of Ty Hayes.

The Street Stock A Feature saw the No. 20 of Rick Richardson starting on the pole with Jeff Hunter No. 15 to his right door.  Matt Sparks No. 52 who is normally the turn four flagman, took the lead early and held everyone off until lap 26 when the “Bad Boy” No. 17 Bobby Schisler took over the lead and went on to lead the last half of the race and on to the checkered flag first.  It was clearly an emotional race for Bobby Schisler and his family.  “I have been trying to win this race for 17 years now and I just can’t believe I finally got it!”  Finishing 2nd was the No. 52 of Matt Sparks and with the 3rd place finish, the No. 125 of “Frosty” Scott Frost.

The Mini Stock A Feature started with the No. 60 of Stan Hudson starting the pole with Timmy Dooley No. 18 to his right door.  On lap 5 Kevin Grubb No. 14 took the lead and held everyone off to lead until lap 19 when several things happened all at once that led to Monteith Tire No. 6 of Jim Anglemyer winning his 9th A Feature of the season.  Kevin Grubb No. 14 finished 2nd, JR Ryman No. 17 finished 3rd and the No. 8 of Jamison Corn brought home 4th.

Saturday, August 22nd is Napa Night with a regular night of racing and then Saturday, September 5th ends our regular season the Season Championships.  Happy and Safe Racing!
